EXPRESSIVE ARTS PROGRAM IN COLLABORATION WITH RIVERSIDE SCHOOL
Expressive Arts is the practice of using imagination, storytelling, poetry, paints, dance, music, drama, movement, and visual arts together, in an integrated way, to foster human growth, development, and healing. In a world where television and video games imagine for us, and schools continue to cut artistic programs, expressive arts help children reclaim their innate capacity for creative expression. Children who participate in expressive arts show extremely positive outcomes.
Expressive arts empowers children and opens them to their own inner depths. It helps children construct their own reality and freely communicate their feelings and ideas. Participation in expressive arts increases children's understanding of symbols - a critical component of communication and literacy development - and creates a bridge between the inner world experienced by children's imaginations and the outer world experienced by their senses, all bringing a deeper understanding of the events that occur around them.
