Taylor participated in the eight (8) day trip with Blackwater Outdoor Experiences this summer for teens his age that have social skills issue...I just want to let you know it was a wonderful experience for Taylor. He started out somewhat homesick, but after a day he said he got over it with the help of his counselor, guide, etc. and went on to have a great time. Upon his return home, I noticed an improvement in his maturity level. He is looking forward to future adventures with Blackwater Outdoor.
Thank you
Taylor’s Mother
Our daughter Jamie attended the 8 day adventure in July of this year (2007) with Blackwater Outdoor Experiences. She had never been away from home for more then 1-2 nights and had never done any “camping “so this was a totally new adventure for her ( for us as well). Having a child with multiple learning disabilities is a daily challenge including trying to find appropriate activities for them over their summer vacation. Blackwater adventures provided us with a great option for our daughter. She was encouraged to do new things and expand her comfort zone; she had the opportunity to make friends (something that is very difficult for her) as well as engaging in physical activities. All of this done under the watchful eye of the trained and caring counselors, allowing us to relax for the week knowing she was being taken care of. Upon returning to school she and another participant became the “talk of the town” at school, again giving her a much needed boost in her self esteem. She cannot wait for a return to the camping experience .We hope this adventure will continue in the future for our daughter as well as others.
Thank you

Camp Blackwater Friends,
Camp Backwater was an amazing experience. I conquered my fear of heights by having a chance to climb a mountain. I gained confidence in myself. I learned to believe in my abilities in survival skills. I made 3 friends. I had fun because I got to experience new things. Camp Blackwater was such an unforgettable experience. Thank you
Jamie
