  Field Therapist & Office Manager (FT), Jonathan Ugalde, M.S.Ed./CAS, NCC, Resident in Counseling

Jonathan Ugalde has experience in individual, group, and family therapy with treatment techniques and interventions including adventure based counseling, multi-systemic therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, reality therapy, mindfulness skills, and behavior modification. Throughout his career and life Jonathan has gained skills becoming an Eagle Scout, completing the Gary Horowitz Leadership Development Program, helping develop and implement programming for the W.I.L.D. About Alfred Committee at Alfred University, interning at Conifer Park Outpatient Substance Abuse Clinic in Rochester, NY , and interning at Beacon Light Behavioral Health Systems Multi-systemic Therapy program in Bradford, PA.

Jonathan Ugalde earned his bachelors degree in Counseling/Clinical Psychology from Alfred University with minors in music and theatre in May 2013. While in his undergraduate program Jonathan was selected as a finalist for the Marlin Miller Outstanding Senior Award, and received the Saxon Six Award for outstanding contributions to student affairs as a resident assistant and student organization leader. He then graduated from Alfred University with a masters of science in education with certificate of advanced study in Mental Health Counseling (M.S.Ed./CAS) in May 2015.  In September 2015 Jonathan obtained certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

Field Therapist (FT), Sarah Cazares, MSW

Sarah graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelors in Social Work in 2015 and then with her Masters of Social Work in 2016. She moved to Richmond, Virginia in the summer of 2016 and has been enjoying the area. Sarah has over three years of of experience working with adolescence in the school setting. She has always found healing through the outdoors and is very excited to begin working at Blackwater Outdoor Experiences in June 2017.

Logistics Officer (FT), Andrew Sporrer

Andrew graduated from Virginia Tech in 2012 with a B.A. in Communication and minors in creative writing and leadership & social change. He then attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA to continue his education in secondary education and completed his post bac. work in 2014.  Andrew has eight years experience working with high school age students in small group settings facilitating leadership skills and self-discovery with Rotary International. He is a passionate advocate for the preservation of our outdoor shared spaces and is excited to share his wilderness skills and his perspectives with the BOE community. He will be acting as field guide for the June 18th, 2017 expedition before returning to the office to spend time managing logistics and equipment.
